PANAJI: The former power minister, Mr Mauvin Godinho, has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging the order of the Panaji bench of the Bombay High Court, which had allowed the reopening of the two cases against him.

mr godhino had been chargesheeted on november 6 this year by the crime branch along with the former chief electrical engineer, t nagarajan and five others in the matter of granting undue favour to certain companies by means of a power rebate. while the direct loss to the state exchequer as a result of this rebate was rs 4.52 crores, the total loss is estimated at rs 15 crore. the case was opened in april this year, following a high court order, two years after it was closed down in 1998.
